MEET CONFETTI POP: A NEW KIND OF PARTY BLOG

Hurrah! Hooray! Today is the day! CONFETTI POP is a brand new site that has me incredibly jealous and oh so happy all at the same time. Why didn't I think of this? It's time to hike up those party pants and get ready to get your DIY on. Confetti Pop is what happens when you put together two incredibly talented stylists who have a knack for parties, Maddy Hague of Somewhere Splendid and Shauna Younge. The site is gorgeous and full of pretty little DIYs that have me wondering which to make first.

I think my favorite is the fringe ornament garland. Fringe + garland? LOVE.  Hop on over to check out their amazing work and keep checking back, there are lots more projects to come...

CONGRATULATIONS Maddy and Shauna! xoxo

DIY MINI PARTY TENT

There are an array of simple party supplies that can make a simple day into something simply festive. Crepe paper streamers get a bad rap but can really work out in a pinch.

Want more shades? Want more variation? Cut the full size folds of crepe paper, available in an array of shades into your own streamers. It is an easy way to make a mono chromatic set of streamers, without using the bold everyday shades available everywhere. I guarantee if you make streamers out of mint crepe paper, everyone will ask you where you found them. Use a sharp rotary cutter and a straight edge and take a typical party staple to the next level.

I did this DIY over on HELLOBEE to show that for just a few dollars and five minutes, you can have a mini celebration, for whatever reason. So what's the verdict? Yay or nay on the use of streamers in a party? I think they have been out of the spotlight long enough, let's bring them back!

PARTY FAVORITES: CUPCAKES AND CUTLERY

We just started a new series here called Party Favorites and we have my favorite person here today! Party Favorites is a quick and dirty look into what actual party crazed bloggers really do keep on hand to throw their signature AWESOME bashes. Guess who is letting us peek into their toolbox? Sharon of CUPCAKES AND CUTLERY is here today to share some of her tricks. She blogs about the coolest finds in the OC, dangerously yummy desserts, diys and uber cool original themed parties.

If you need a killer inspiration board, she makes my very favorite on the whole internet, her style is awesome. This gal not only is my online BFF and my future roomie at ALT, party mayhem will ensue, she rocks some of the coolest parties on this side of the rockies. Lego Dance Party? Need I say more?

(psst - part of me really wants this poster, it's in my branding colors and did you know a girl donkey is called a Jenny? Random facts of awesomeness here at H+H, random facts for your pleasure.)

Please welcome Sharon, my best supporter and dear friend whom I've never met in person. Here are her favortie things:

1.  A STAPLE GUN - Not only can staple guns be used for party crafts beforehand, it also is perfect for hanging backdrops outside, stringing lights in trees or creating a more festive celebration at an off site location (such as a public park - not someone's house.  I promise I have never shot up someone's house with staples)
2.  EMPTY GLASS JARS of all shapes and sizes - Whenever I clean out my fridge or cupboard, I save all the glass jars.  These can be painted, filled, used as glassware, vases and so much more.  I might use the taller ones to serve a signature beverage out of and the smaller ones I can use to create a make-shift cake stand.
3.  ROPE - in all shapes and sizes.  I love ropes for a quick and easy garland.  Ropes can be used to suspend a little display table from your patio cover.  They can wrap glass jars above or empty tin cans for a decor element.  The possibilities are endless.

4.  A GOOD PRINTER - My go to printer is Direct Edge Media in Orange County.  My parties wouldn't be nearly as cool if it wasn't for the awesome signs and paper goods that I have printed there.  Of course they do my invitations, but they have also blown up my son's finger paintings to display very large at an art party and printed a huge donkey for our pin the tail on the donkey game.  I make it a point to not go visit the shop and see what they are capable of so I don't get too crazy. Custom printed goods really set your party apart.

She has 4, not the usual 3 but she's my friend and that's just one of the benefits of being one of my first followers ever. That and these are so important I didn't want to pick anc choose. Thank you so much Sharon, these are great and you are amazing as always.

DIY LETTERPRESS BUNTING

We're avoiding pastels this weekend, which is next to impossible. The best I can do is choose more graphic accents to take the softness out of what few items I couldn't avoid.  That's why I wanted to make this bunting for Easter dinner, in navy. It is a flower, but modern. I used the BLOSSOMS printing plate in my Epic 6 Combo Kit from LIFESTYLE CRAFTS and it was awesome.

I am still a beginner when it comes to letterpress, so believe me when i tell you it is easier than you think. You place the plate using a double sided adhesive sheet on the lid, and roll the ink on lightly with the brayer (roller.) Place your card using the lines. I used A7 flat cards. Close the lid and run it though the machine. Ta-da! Letterpress.  Let dry. Cut each sheet in half and cut out the flag shape on the bottom. Tape twine to the back of the flags and you have yourself a great, not too saccarine bunting for Easter.

If you would like to try this, don't forget to use my coupon code "HANK" and you will get 20% off! Yes, I am an affiliate, which means LIFESTYLE CRAFTS sends me free supplies such as dies and plates, I do make a small commision on any purchase you make with the promo code. All opinions are mine.

DIY PARTY STRAWS FOR WORLD PARTY DAY

It's coming up fast, WORLD PARTY DAY is April 3rd. When Rebecca of BIG THINGS and KITIYA PALASKAS asked me to do a DIY to add to the merriment and get ready to celebrate, of course I said OH YEAH! A whole day for parties? Yes, yes, yes. Well today is my day to share so here is an easy way to dress up your straws, with fringe. Who couldn't use a little more fringe in their lives?

Have you ever made a party straw? Yep, me neither.  I also happen to still love tissue fringe and might have to put it on everything.  I was sitting at my last party, thinking those paper straws are so cute, but oh so plain.  What better way to celebrate World Party Day than with a party in our bev? Am I right? Let’s get started.

You will need: tissue paper, paper straws, double stick tape and scissors. Don’t forget a beverage to test it out!

Take your tissue paper, I used small sheets about 15” x 20”, and cut them into strips about 2” wide. Fold each strip in half and cut fringe on one side, about ¾ of the way up.  Be careful not to cut all the way through the strip or you will have confetti instead!

Wrap a strip of double stick tape around the straw about 1/3 of the way from the top. Attach the folded end of the tissue fringe, uncut section of the top and wrap around the straw.

Secure end with a small piece of tape and fluff.

Make one or many and party on!

Be sure to check back each day until WORLD PARTY DAY for awesome DIYs! Gotta love a good party!
