FRIDAY FAVES

Every now and again there is a perfect theme party. Sail away with me is beyond perfect and I want to make the backdrop into wall paper. Found via these gals, if you don't follow them on Pinterest yet, you should.

I'm crazy cheap but I love fancy clothes and baubles. This girl has online garage sales and I just bookmarked it this morning. Style at a fraction of the cost. The downside? All the stuff I want is already sold. (Alexandra the BLUE necklace!!!) Boo.

Stunning stamps and crafting with them is chic and elegant.

Just ordered this bracelet...a little bit of sparkle for everyday.

Fabulous shop. Crafting for Holidays are on my mind and I want to buy these. BTW they ship international and I found it here, my favorite kids magazine.

DIY PLASTIC ANIMAL FAVOR BOXES

If you follow me on Instagram (I'm @hankandhunt and I just realized there isn't a link to it on the blog...bad Jenny!) you get sneak peeks at DIYs that I am making. I don't like to give away all the surprises, but I do love to give hints. The hint I gave for this was "you can never have too much neon or plastic animals" and I think it is true. Animal favor boxes? Maybe in gold even? Check out the full DIY over on Hellobee.

You might notice that I usually take a craft or material or color and run with it. Creatively, that is just how my mind works. I start playing with crepe paper for one project and get inspired by it. I play with the scraps or the way it hangs off the table while I am doing something else. I've warned you I can be a bit obsessive and that certainly applies to color. Once I'm struck, I see it everywhere and I can't stop. I create my final parties to be simply styled on purpose and I hope you realize you can make them in any shade you desire, I merely offer the tutorial. I say this, because I am editing yet another DIY in blue. I can't help it.

DIY DRUM BOX

Ok, so it is taking everything I have to not steal this box from the boys. I need to make one myself but in black and white. Or maybe two, or three. Check out the DIY for Hellobee HERE.

The blogcation is coming to an end soon...is there anything you would like to see more of? Less of? Let me know below or by email!

KIDS + EASTER = FUNNY BUNNY COOKIES: A RECAP

This post is from last year, but I thought I would share since we are making these guys this afternoon. I'm all out of googly eyes so we're off to find some more ASAP. In a pinch you can grab them at Michaels or Joanns now, thank heaven (only sometimes) for mass marketing. I bet you could even make them...

So, I finally remembered to pull out an old recipe for Easter...this one I've had since I was a kid. I love the FUNNY BUNNY font and I am saving it in my memory to practice lettering styles in AI.

I went through my stash of my mom's old recipe cards. I love the photo styling, right? right? I think this is early 80s, you know when everything was still kind of 70s, before new wave hit...

I would have bet money it was a Pillsbury recipe, but I guess not. *I tried this with Pillsbury dough, but it spread into giant chubby bunnies, so big the boys couldn't eat it all.* Here's a picture, it's too funny not to include.

I guess that's what I get for being lazy and not making my own...

When I redid this, I used the best ever cookie dough recipe from Meaghan, over at The Decorated Cookie. It works every time, doesn't spread one bit, and tastes yummy. I rolled the dough in waxed paper to chill. Then I just sliced a bunch of 1/2" circles, cut some of them in half.

Place a circle on the baking sheet and add two halves on top, for the ears. Smooth the line slightly with your fingers. Bake. To decorate, I lined the cookies with white royal icing, also from Meaghan, and sprinkled with nonpareils. Then, I drew an x and stuck a pink jelly bean in the cross for the nose and whiskers. I added two candy eyes that I have from Bake It Pretty and voila. Easy. Not quite as kitchy as the original, but just as yummy.

**I just fixed the recipe links, I forgot about Meaghan's new site, sorry guys!**

KID PARTY IDEA: DIY PLAYDOUGH

Happy Thursday! Got little ones? Pop on over to HELLOBEE today to see my favorite recipe for PLAYDOUGH. The dough can be made in any color, so you can customize it for a party favor or activity at your next kiddie fete.  Use it as a fun kid's take on something blue at the kiddie table at the reception. Yes, of course you would have your special something, too, there's no rule that you can only have one! Basically, since you are using Americolor Food Colors, you have access to an entire spectrum, not just a rainbow.
