HOW TO MAKE GILDED TASSELS

Fun with gold, again. Have you figured out yet that if there is a possiblity for me to paint it gold, I will. I accept myself for my faults, of course, I don't really consider it a fault. I made some simple tassel sculptures or ornaments and the pictures do not do these justice. They are so easy to make and you can adorn them to anything, like as placesetting decor. How perfect are these for an oscar party? Gold is the perfect way to add a little sparkle to your table.

Now, just because I say it is easy, doesn't mean it isn't messy, but you can contain the chaos by coating a baking sheet with foil. If you craft alot (ahem) I recommend saving those ugly old baking sheets for art projects. Don't toss or donate them, just keep the old ones in the craft closet and you will have a ton of uses for them down the line. That is exactly what I did to make these tassels from a little kitchen twine, regular latex paint (to make it hard) and some liquid gilding. *Note: liquid gilding is GORGEOUS, but smells to high heaven, do that part outside. Trust me.

Check out the full DIY over on Project Wedding and have fun. These actually adorned my Christmas tree as ornaments this past year.

GEOMETRIC PARTY DECORATIONS PART 1: HONEYCOMB DIAMONDS

Are you looking to spruce up your next party with something new? Hanging decorations are always fun and can instantly make your party feel like the celebration it should be, but as much as I love tissue poms and honeycomb balls, sometimes I just feel like something different. Geometrics are awesome and everywhere so shouldn't they be at your party too?

A side note on my creative process: I usually obsess over things. That's why you will see an abundance of fringe or tissue paper or geometrics around my DIYs. I have a monthly schedule that I run and as I finish new tutorials, I go to my next project and sometimes ditch the original plan from my list to make this newly inspired creation. Such is the case with the two geometric projects that popped out yesterday. First, I made the diamond honeycomb DIY for Ruffled. I love how insanely easy these are, I mean can you cut in a straight line? Done. To be continued... (always wanted to say that!)

FUN WITH FANS

In case you were ever wondering, the second week of the month is my busiest. If you ever stop by the house, you would think it is sheer chaos, and you would be exactly right. A benefit? The third week of the month is always the one with a crazy amount of DIYs. Add in an extra for Father's Day this week and a guest post, like this one above and we are set! When Melanie of YOU ARE MY FAVE asked if I would do a few DIYs for her, of course I squealed with delight and said YES! Go check out my DIY for an easy but fun backdrop made of paper fans
