Entertaining tool kit #1, get a great set of white dishes. With all those extra guests in the holiday season, it is important to have a few extra dishes. I have been searching for a great set of plain white dishes for quite some time, always finding something not quite right about this or that. I needed a bunch for when EVERYONE is all together at once, and I never had a full set of white if there was more than just our little family, I only had 4. I was doing a little holiday shopping last week and came across these great dishes form Lenox. A basic set of white dishes let's you mix and match as you want. Use both the salad and dinner plate for a crisp white setting or mix my favorite way, add a salad plate in one of two coordinating patterns for fun.
The line is called Classic White and they only come in sets of 6. They are buffet style sets, which means you can get only plates, but for the holidays and to have a basic starter set, they are perfect. I snagged a screaming deal for Lenox plates, $60 for six dinner plates and $40 for six salad plates. I got them with some crazy coupon sale at Macy's too, so they were even a bigger steal. I was even thrilled to find out they were "Made in the USA", really, I didn't even know dishes even were anymore. The quality is outstanding and the white is the perfect creamy blend, not too blue or cold, just warm enough without being yellow or beige/offwhite. They are the color of marshmallows.
I snagged two sets, enough for 12, because I always like having a few extra in the cupboard during my parties. I don't do dishes once the party starts. These are a great find and I though with all the hubbub and holiday planning, you might be looking for an entertaining set this season too. These are affordable but don't sacrifice quality or finish. Just wanted to share.
