PARTY FAVORITES: A SUBTLE REVELRY

I've been sprinkling one of my favorite series here on H+H about so you can get a peek into the party staches of some of the best party planners out there. Are you ready for one more? Victoria from A Subtle Revelry loves to share simple but beautiful ways to celebrate the everyday. She has one of the greatest taglines around...the art of merrymaking!

Her projects and delightful ideas will guide you into living the best life you can, because who doesn't need some little polka dots in their life? (I'm obsessed with these green polka dot glasses she made btw.)  Shall we learn her secrets? Take it away Victoria!

My top three party necessities:

1) Honeycomb balls... I used them recently for a baby shower and just bought a stash of 60 for something fun this fall. You can never have too many honeycombs lying around and finding vintage ones is the best!
2) Small pretty jars.... for favors, tiny drinks, sweets, flowers. You can use these beauties for anything!
3) Woven poofs... We have a set of these that have been used for everything! They are perfect to stack and pull out whenever there is a gathering. Sit them under a coffee table for an outdoor party or throw them around the living room for a movie night.

Thank you so much Victoria for sharing these great sources! I'm off to get little lidded jars, why? Because not only are they cute, but did you see the color? That's a nice shade of green.

HOW TO MAKE A SIGNPOST SAVE THE DATE

It's here, it's here! I have a some super news today, I am officially a contributor over on Project Wedding! Hooray! My first post is live today and I wanted to share it with you. It is a signpost save the date. I found these adorable mini glass cloches and had to make something with them. I have had the signpost idea floating around in my head for about a year and these little glass jars are the perfect compliment to them.

These are so easy to make and you could make these for travel themed party invitations, too. Go check out the full DIY here.

HOW TO MAKE AN ADVENT CALENDAR WITH A FONT

Happy Font Friday! As I wrap up a few things around the house this weekend, I wanted to share a font that makes the world's easiest advent calendar, no Illustrator or Photoshop necessary.  Heck, you don't even have to mess around in Word for this one. Meet FRYA, by Jonathan Hughes, a great font already encased in a square or circle, ready for use. The font is nice and plain and the numbers are classic. I don't care if you are a seasoned graphic designer, it is still a pain to do more than one number or letter in an object. Centering, sizing, all that fun stuff? This font makes it all super easy.

Did I mention one version is also free? Try FRYA Numeric Circle Closed. Just type in your numbers and size it up to what you need. Print. Cut. Hang.  Love those muslin bags? Try printing out the circles on iron on transfer paper and ironing them on to little bags. Hang them in line as a garland and stuff with little lovelies. I guarantee it will take me longer to write this post than you will take to make an advent calendar.

Don't forget my font loving friends and have one heck of a FABULOUS FRIDAY!

HOLIDAY BAKING BASICS: IS YOUR PANTRY READY?

It's here, it's here. The first day of November and you know what that means? It means that I can officially start talking about tinsel without sounding like a nut. November means the beginning of the entertaining season with parties and family and baked goods a plenty. Is your pantry ready? I started a little early in my baking spree and noticed that I was short on quite a few things. This meant about 5 different shopping trips as each ingredient ran out at a different time in various recipes. So my tip for you? Take inventory today. Check out all of your ingredients and make sure you know how much is in each. If you are like me, there are a few go to recipes that you use over and over throughout the season. Write down what you need and hit the store running. Be sure to chuck those things like chocolate chips and coconut that might still be there from last year...oops.

Here is a little checklist of what I have gone to the store for in the last two weeks. I think it is pretty standard and you can make a bazillion different recipes from these. Keep your pantry stocked and you can make practically anything on a moments notice this season, we usually make cookies on a whim. I hope it helps and let's make our holidays delicious!
