A GREAT MODERN CALLIGRAPHY FONT: MATCHMAKER

Happy Font Friday folks! How are you? I'm super excited because I am finally feeling a little better. Which means today is the first day I have not started coughing the second I woke up. I've been coughing since Alt (no joke) and am a little worn out. But I'm thrilled because I get to meet Tristan, of Besotted, and Michelle, of creatocrat, this very Sunday and not scare them to death with my cooties. We will go gallivanting around the Fremont Sunday Market and it will be so fun! (yes, I have lived in Seattle forever and never, ever been) So the font I chose today is simple and gorgeous, much like the work by these ladies. Enter Matchmaker, a great new font by Angie Baldelomar, that also happens to be on sale.

It has great swashes that you can add to the end and beginning of each word, but the even better part is that it is 30% off right now! Take a look at the super long ones...I love this! Oh, and nice is pretty nice too.

This is one of those fonts that you could cut down sheets of watercolor paper and run it through the printer. It gives a great texture to the letters and you can fake hand-lettered placecards, menus or invitations. Really. Also, it would be easy to take this and place it under a sheet of paper to trace and letter with a good pen. Another hint? Take this and trace it with a ballpoint pen on top of a black cardstock to make an indentation. Then, holding your paper in some good light, trace and fill with a good white pen.  You don't have to be born with good handwriting skills, I sure wasn't.

This font is fun and easy to read and has a good lowercase 'r'. Does anyone else have issues finding a good script with a nice 'r'?  Ok, probably just me. I have tried to love many a script and the 'r' kills it for me every time. At this price, I'm going to take another shot at love.

So check out Matchmaker today...just in time for Easter place cards.

Lovely font! And thanks for the tip about tracing the letters first with a ballpoint pen to make an indentation on black cardstock, then writing over that with a white pen. Will surely try that!

I loved the idea of using this font to trace & was hoping to use it to address my wedding invitations. I'm new to the font world & don't do a lot of fancy font-age aside from making my kindergarten class's monthly newsletter cute. I've downloaded the font, now how do I actually add the swashes?
