KIDS PARTY IDEA: THE LORAX TRUFFULA TOPPERS
Friday, February 24, 2012 at 7:56AM
We are counting down the days until THE LORAX comes out. I think I might be as excited as the boys. It was one of my favorite books as a kid, and the trailer for the movie is amazing. One week to go! While we watched the trailer for the umpteenth time yesterday, I thought the trees looked surpisingly like cotton candy. Thus the idea for edible truffula tree cupcake toppers were born.
Of course, I will do anything that makes me "have" to bake cupcakes. Take a tuft of cotton candy and stick it on half of a striped paper straw. How fun would this be for a whole party? A forest of truffula trees? I could only find blue and pink cotton candy in the easter section. If you have one of those home cotton candy machines, you could "tuft" each straw individually in the pretty yellows and oranges, too!

This is seriously TOO GOOD! Love It and I think my two little girlies will feel the same! Thanks for an awesome idea :)
I saw your Truffula Trees on a google search and it made me laugh a little bit because I had the same idea and created cotton candy Truffula Trees last week and blogged about it on my blog. Great minds think alike I guess.
I was amazed that no one else had thought of this (or at least created it and blogged about it) before.
I like the idea of using them as cupcake toppers.
Come check out my Lorax Party that I created over on Eyes of Mad blog!
Thanks!
Does the cotton candy melt?
the cutest! I have always loved the Lorax and am going to definitely make these in anticipation of the movie. LOVE
you are a genius. these are brilliant jenny!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Please tell me where to find the black and white straws. I love the cupcakes. I am planning on making them for my daughter's class.
mmm! i love those!!
Just made these for my son's kindergarten class. Three hours later, the cotton candy has melted and I have no clue how to fix it. I am devastated because they were soooo cute! I may just run by the store in the morning and get some cool marshmallows to put on top instead. I sure am going to miss the fluffiness of the cotton candy, though. :(
Hi guys! When I made these I had no idea that cotton candy melted! I am so sorry! It never lasts long enough around our house. I would recommend popping the cotton candy on right before serving to prevent the melting. xo, Jenny
Fabulous idea!
this is darling! Just wanted to let you know I'm featuring this tomorrow night :)
Thanks for the post. Love this idea. I used it for my son's 2nd Birthday party. I wrote about it and gave you a link back on my blog.
