We're coming up on July 4th and the season of backyard BBQs, there is no reason it has to be all blue and white checks. Add some pops of gold and hang lanterns around the yard to create a luxe feel to your next summer gathering. I was sent a box of party goodies to play with and I decided the standard smore needed a bit of champagne. Now that Martha Stewart has her new MarthaCelebrations line at JCPenney, we can add some gorgeous accents to our party decor. We seldom decorate outside, but let's take a hint from those gorgeous wedding receptions all over Pinterest and take our next relaxed BBQ to the next level. A smores bar anyone? It is simple and easy with a great cake stand and arrange your chocolate bar into individual servings complete with marshmallow.
I'm crazy about keeping it simple. Don't make it so stunning and filled with tons of stuff that your guests will feel intimidated to eat it. Make it inviting and easy going. Only put out a smidge more than you will need (keep extra inside to pop out if they are revenous). This keeps the table uncluttered and for those of us in Seattle, easy to swoop inside in case the weather changes.
Take your vintage gold flatware and Carlo Moretti coupes out of the china hutch to really amp up the style. There is NO reason you can't take a beautiful bouquet outside in crystal. Just try it once, I swear you will be hooked. I am an avid believer in using pretty things everyday, even outside. What's the point if you don't use it. That amazing day is today and that is exactly how you will make your friends and family feel when they pop in for your party, special.
Bring out a great table from inside and put it on the lawn under a tree and hang lanterns around it. Let your garden be the backdrop and just accent it to make it feel more celebratory. As for the lanterns, the more the better.
Add easy touches with pretty favor boxes and matching plates. This is key to entertaining effortlessly. Cleanup is so easy with paper plates and you never have to worry about not having enough dishes that match. I love the gold leaves around the border of these from MarthaCelebrations. A pop of stripes on the favor boxes, filled with pretty little gold wrapped chocolate hearts are great to grab and snack on a picnic blanket loaded with pillows.
Add a touch of sparkle to those plain old roasting poles with gold glittered ribbon. Who says you can't add details where they have never gone before?
Walk around your table, make sure it looks inviting from the living areas in your yard, like the patio door, you are trying to lure your guests over here, remember?
The best part? If you repin my images from the #LetsCelebrate pin party (remember to use the hashtag #letscelebrate), you could win your own celebration-in-a-box!
